Cross-Patch Poncho
Cross-Patch Poncho
- An original design by Fiona Langtry for ReVe Design Co
- get 20% off AND a free pattern
Create a unique, warm and visually stunning Cross-Patch Poncho using two perfectly textured and self-edged rectangles!
FEATURES:
- Self-edge all around, so no need for picking up stitches and doing an edge.
- A beautiful, wavy edge framed by rows of post stitches gives definition to the long sides of the poncho
- An open, lacy stitch fills the bulk of the fabric, providing opportunity for “mindful” crochet as you create the panels.
- Charts are included
- Measurement or Stitch-Count options (see below)
If you’ve never made one of these “rectangle ponchos” before, you’re going to be amazed at how it comes together! If you have made a different version, this one has all the texture and style you could possibly want!
Cross-Patch Poncho is designed to fit most adults, but can be adjusted to be larger or smaller once you’re comfortable with the pattern.
I have provided 2 different ways of creating it – by measurement and by stitch count.
- Measurement means you can use whatever yarn and matching (slightly larger) hook you like (gauge not important at all)
- Stitch count means you can adjust the thickness of the yarn & hook size to produce different sizes.
Whichever option you choose, have FUN! This is a pattern which can produce dramatically different results, simply by changing the yarn - just look at the photos (I used a long-colorchange yarn, while my tester Portugeezer used tonal pink)!
Stitch Count - you will need:
Approx 1100m of 8ply/DK/#3 weight yarn – whatever color(s) and brand you like. I do suggest using a wool or wool-blend yarn, though, for warmth.
Yarn needle
Crochet Hook: 5.5mm (I/9)
Optional: 5.0 (H/8) for first row of each panel only
Gauge: 7 rows, 7 linked dc to 5cm (2”) (not vital)
Seamstress Pins
Blocking supplies
Measurement – you will need:
Approx 400g of whatever colour(s) and brand and yarn weight you like. I do suggest using a wool or wool-blend yarn, for warmth, or a cotton yarn for summer ponchos.
1 size above the suggested hook for your chosen yarn.
