Crooner Socks
This top-down sock is a lovely textured pattern with striking contrast colour bands and little snowflakes that are hand-stitched. The snowflakes are created with simple straight stitches that give the perfect seasonal touch to this sock.
Kelly from Lay Family Yarns told me that this years advent theme was “Walking in a Winter Wonderland” and when she told me that, I instantly started humming the song. I love the older versions of Christmas songs by Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby, Dean Martin, the old fashioned crooners. The Crooner Socks were born!
The sock comes in 3 sizes and is knit from the top down with a garter-edged slip stitch heel flap and traditional gusset. I finished it with my version of a rounded toe.
Written and charted instructions are included. There is a video tutorial to show how to and stitch the snowflakes. They are simple straight stitches and very easy to do.
The pattern looks great on lots of different types of yarn…Give it a try! Check out my tester’s project pages for inspiration.
I used a Lay Family Yarns sock set with a 100g skein of fingering weight main colour yarn and a 20g mini for the contrast. Thank you to Kelly & Nick from Lay Family Yarns for asking me to be a part of their advent calendar.
Huge thanks to my test knitters Heather J, Rochelle, Leanne, Josée, Heather E and Lori for their help and beautiful socks.
