Pullover vest inspired by traditional Scottish Shetland handknits. Vest is worked circularly up to the shoulders using two-color stranding technique. Patterns are charted. Steeks are made for armholes and neck opening.

Measurements:

  • Size A: 41” / 104 cm chest; 26.5” / 67.5 cm length
  • Size B: 44.5” / 113 cm chest; 27.5” / 70 cm length
  • Size C: 48” / 122 cm chest; 29.5” / 75 cm length

Yarn:

  • Note: Recommended yarn has been discontinued. Pattern requirements are included here for informational purposes. Select a light fingering weight, 100% wool yarn that will allow you to achieve the recommended gauge.
  • Six colors of Jamieson’s 2 ply Shetland (100% wool, 150 yd / 137 m = 25 g) are suggested, as follows:
  • Color A: #101 Shetland Black, 2 skeins (300 yds.)
  • Color B: #103 Sholmit, 2 skeins (300 yds.)
  • Color C: #105 Eesit, 2 skeins (300 yds.)
  • Color D: #102 Shaela, 3 skeins (450 yds.)
  • Color E: #104 Natural White, 2 skeins (300 yds.)
  • Color F: #108 Moorit, 1 skein (150 yds.)

Needles:

  • 24” / 60 cm circular needles in US 3 / 3.25 mm for Size A: US 4 / 3.5 mm for Size B: US 5 / 3.75 mm for Size C
  • 16” / 40 cm and 24” / 60 cm circular needles two sizes smaller than needles used for body

Gauge: (in Fair Isle pattern on larger needles)

  • Size A: 28 sts and 32 rows = 4” / 10 cm
  • Size B: 26 sts and 30 rows = 4” / 10 cm
  • Size C: 24 sts and 28 rows = 4” / 10 cm
  • Note: Remember that gauge determines how your garment will fit. Swatch until you get it right!
