Crocus in the Woods Capelet
Let there be spring. Please. And since my heart is there, even if the temperatures and climatic behavior may not always be, this capelet celebrates the first harbingers of the season, the merry little crocus.
Knit in a variation of feather and fan with I call ‘Plumes’ with increases made by adding yarnovers between the plumes, the capelet begins with a tulip collar that expands down across the shoulders in an exuberant play of color and texture. Alternatively, you can bypass the funnel neckline, or make it shorter, or even begin your caplet lower down the neck for a more open mood. Instructions are given for each possibility.
This is a free-range design, meaning row-by-row instructions are not provided. There are no mistakes in this style of knitting. Every one’s creation will be different and celebrated. This is a fun and relaxing style of knitting modified lace.
