Crocheted Jelly Roll Blanket
This blanket is the crochet version of my knitted Jelly Roll Blanket. I designed that original blanket in 2020 and published it in 2021. It remains a very popular design of mine, and I’ve long wanted to adapt that design for crochet.
Both of these designs were inspired by quilts that are made using a Jelly Roll of fabric. I had such fun designing both of the blankets!
Blanket Details
The blanket uses Linen (or Moss) Stitch.
The blanket is crocheted using leftovers and mini skeins of fingering weight yarn. The yarn is HELD DOUBLE through the whole blanket, giving a wonderfully squishy and warm fabric.
You start your first strip and work this to the length of blanket you require. You then carry on adding strips until you reach the width you want. Each strip is attached as you work, there is NO SEAMING required.
The border is added at the end and is also worked in Linen/Moss Stitch.
A basic knowledge of crochet is useful but the video tutorials within the pattern do make it beginner friendly.
The pattern is written in both UK and US terminology.
There are 9 video tutorials contained within the pattern that cover all aspects of the blanket making and finishing.
Yarn
I used lots and lots of leftovers and mini skeins of fingering weight yarn, which is HELD DOUBLE.
You can use any weight of yarn you like to make the blanket, as long as you stay consistent though the whole blanket. So for example, if you had lots of worsted leftovers you could happily use those. You would just need to adjust your hook size as appropriate.
You can mix bases of yarn but I was careful to use all superwash yarns, for ease of laundering.
