Both crochet and yarn advent calendars have been steadily gaining popularity in recent years (yay!) and while there are many beautiful knitted patterns using advent yarn, crochet patterns designed specifically for advent yarn still seem harder to find. That’s why I created this easy to make and easy to find Crocheted Advent Baby Blanket!

This pattern is designed to make a crocheted baby blanket using a yarn advent calendar comprised of 24 X 20g/80m (0.7oz/87yd) mini-skeins and 1 X 100g/400m (3.5oz/437yd) skein, all in fingering weight/4ply yarn. The photographed example is made using Daffodil Road Yarn’s 2021 Narnia advent calendar. This pattern would also work using mini-skeins or scrap yarn and a contrasting main skein.

There are only 2 rows to memorise in this pattern, making it the perfect relaxing project for a busy time of year.

The finished dimensions of the blanket will be approximately 90cm X 100cm (35.5in X 39.5in), making it an ideal baby blanket, pet blanket, lap blanket, or a decorative throw.

This pattern is suitable for a beginner, with photos and a chart included for additional support. This pattern is available in US and UK versions. The pattern uses the following stitches:

US:
Ch – Chain stitch
DC – Double Crochet
HDC – Half Double Crochet
DC2tog – Double Crochet 2 together
HDC2tog – Half Double Crochet 2 together
SS – Slip Stitch

UK:
Ch – Chain stitch
TR – Treble Crochet
HTR – Half Treble Crochet
TR2tog – Treble Crochet 2 together
HTR2tog – Half Treble Crochet 2 together
SS – Slip Stitch
