Crazy Caps
This foursome is a study in yarn play and embellishments, providing different results from a simple, basic pattern. Because each hat uses fewer than 150 yards of a bulky yarn, you can splurge on something special — handspun, special textures, or roving.
Skill level: Easy
Hat samples shown:
1) Earflap cap (Silk ‘n Merino Roving)
2) Earflap cap with 2 pompons (Mulligan Stew)
3) Earflap cap with 1 pompon (Rhapsody)
4) Basic cap with 2 pompons and no earflaps (Rhapsody)
Gauge:
13 1/2 sts/20 rows over stockinette stitch using larger needle and Handspun Mulligan Stew OR Silk ‘n Merino Roving
12 sts/17 rows over stockinette stitch using larger needle and Rhapsody
Yarn requirements:
Cap 1, 2, or 3 90 (100, 110) yds
Cap 4 80 (90, 100) yds
add 10 yds per pompon
Colorways shown:
