Cranberry Cordial Socks
Lots of cable-y goodness in these toe-up socks designed for the To Stress or Not to Stress Holiday KAL (knit-a-long) 2014 in the Impeccable Knitters Gathering Place Ravelry group. As part of the KAL, Raveller dragonxser won the opportunity to name this pattern ~ thank you for your inspired choice!
Beginning with Judy’s Magic Cast On (or your own favourite cast on for toe-up socks), the cable pattern is worked on the top of the foot while the sole is worked in Stockinette; a Fleegle heel provides a great fit and the sock leg adds the cable pattern to the back of the leg as well. The top ribbing flows from the cable pattern.
Charts are included in the pattern document; written directions for charts are in the supplemental PDF.
Construction Notes
These socks are knit toe up and use the following techniques:
• Judy’s Magic Cast On (video link only)
• Fleegle Heel (instructions included in the pattern – uses short rows)
• Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off (instruction included in the pattern)
The top ribbing is worked after a full chart repeat has been completed; since this will happen at varying lengths in the sock leg for the different sizes, the top ribbing length is adjustable and will be between 1 – 2.5” / 2.5 – 6.5cm tall; the sock leg (measured from the top of the heel to the top of the ribbing) is 6.5” / 16.5cm for all sizes.
