I made this sweater for my mother for the 2013 holiday season, and the pattern is now ready in time for the 2014 holidays!

This sweater is worked from the bottom up, flat, and seamed. The sweater back is plain stockinette, while the front has a cable panel, which is proportional across sizes. The sleeves feature a cable detail at the wrists. The cowl neck stitches are picked up and worked in the round in brioche rib-- brief instructions for brioche rib are provided in the pattern, as well as links to photo and video tutorials online.

Both written and charted directions are provided for the cable stitch patterns.

Finished garment measurements:
30 (32, 34, 36, 38, 40) {42, 44, 46, 48, 50, 52}” / 76 (81.5, 86.5, 91.5, 96.5, 101.5) {106.5, 112, 117, 122, 127, 132} cm circumference.

20 (22.5, 23.25, 24, 24, 24.5) {24.5, 24.5, 24.75, 25.25, 25.25, 26}”/ 56 (57, 59, 61, 61, 62) {62, 62, 63, 64, 64, 66} cm length.

Intended to be worn with 0-2”/ 0-5 cm ease. Shown in size 36 with ~1”/ 2.5 cm ease.

Materials:
Yarn: 800 (850, 900, 950, 1000, 1050) {1100, 1125, 1200, 1250, 1300, 1350} yards/ 750 (775, 825, 875, 925, 975) {1025, 1050, 1100, 1150, 1200, 1250} meters
Worsted weight yarn.
Shown in Cascade 220 Heathers (100% wool, 220 yards/ 201 meters per 3.53 oz/ 100g skein).

Needles and Gauges:
US #8 / 5mm needles: 16 sts x 24 rows = 4 x 4”/ 10.2 x 10.2 cm in stockinette. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain gauge. (My gauge was a little loose with #8 needles, you may need to go up a size).

16” circular needles will be required for the cowl neck. Body and sleeves may be worked on straight needles or appropriate-length circulars.
