Cozy on Caradhras
The Misty Mountains are dominated by three beautiful peaks, Caradhras, the Redhorn; Celebdil, the Silvertine; and Fanuidhol, Cloudyhead. They are the land where the dwarves lived and worked in the ancient days of Middle-earth, and where Frodo and the Company of the Ring get slowed down considerably by snowstorms and avalanches. I thought the time was ripe for a pair of slipper socks, to keep your toes toasty in the winter, although I wouldn’t want to test them against the snows of Caradhras itself! The socks have a sharp angled cable running up the sides in honor of the dwarves who worked under the mountains, and a snowflake cable down the front. I’ve also provided sizing options for both a DK weight yarn (to make slippers) and sock weight yarn (to make socks, if you prefer).
Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate, this sock features both cables and lace, but the charting is pretty basic. Someone new to sock knitting could easily tackle this sock.
