This is the basic pattern that I have used for years when people ask me to make them mittens, gloves, fingerless mitts, you get the picture. It’s simple and easy!

This pattern has been used with 10’s for felting, with a variety of colorwork patterns as a base, and just as plain and easy mittens. Going up a size or two in needles will give you a men’s medium, and going up to a 6 will give you a men’s large/XL - no need for a pattern change!

The mitten has a fairly tight gauge, because I used US 3’s- I wanted the wind to be kept out while I wear them in a Philadelphia winter!
