I have been wanting to design a crochet jumper for a while but nothing really inspired me. I saw this neckline on a knitted jumper and immediately thought it would look fabulous in crochet on a top down construction. Coverack is a beautiful fishing village tucked away on the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall. This is a perfect easy fit jumper for chilly evenings or days by the coast.

Difficulty

US terminology used throughout with double crochet, chain and slip stitches to create this jumper crocheted from the top down before splitting for the body and then returning to the sleeves. As this is a one piece construction there are only the ends to sew in.

Yarn and Notions

Double knitting yarn (light worsted / 8 ply). I have used King Cole Cherished in Nickel which is a 100% low pill acrylic in 100g balls that have 240 meters / 262 yards. If you use a different yarn check your total meterage / yardage to ensure you have enough.

Meters 700 (800, 900, 1000, 1100)(1200, 1330, 1440, 1565)

Yards 760 (880, 980, 1090, 1200)(1300, 1450, 1580, 1710)

Balls 3(4, 4, 5, 5)(5, 6, 6, )7

4mm (US G-6) hook

Tapestry needle for sewing in ends.

Tension

17 sts and 10 rows over 10 cm / 4 inch square in US double crochet

Measurements

The jumper is a boxy fit and due to the nature of the fit is loose, so choose the finished size that gives you the fit you are after, crochet is naturally stretchy so consider this also. You can add to the length of both the sleeves and body but allow for additional yarn to do this.

Nine sizes with bust measurements between 72cm / 28.5 inches and 151cm / 59.5 inches
