Corrugated Asymmetrical V-Neck
I love browsing in stationery and art supply stores. The fantastic materials - paper pressed with everything from petals to feathers to gold leaf, jellylike vellums, elaborate gauzy cutwork - make me wish for a life of clever dinner parties and custom-made thank-you notes. One of the novelties I’m most drawn to is a refined version of cardboard made with the ripples exposed rather than sandwiched within. The texture of corrugated stripes, resembling a washboard or shutters, is rustic, but it also reminds me of modern sculpture. It motivated me to create this stitch pattern. The purl ridges in the garter stitch are separated by knit-stitch hinges and lie flat; the reverse-stockinette bands puff up to create waves in the fabric. Make the hat (shown on page 21) first and use it as your gauge swatch for the sweater. -- description from Loop-d-Loop, pg. 69 (pattern on pg. 84)
