This beautiful textured pullover is named after the highest waterfall on the River Clyde, the Corra Linn. The waterfall forms part of the Falls of Clyde, which are situated above the New Lanark conservation village in central Scotland. The mills and buildings of New Lanark are the inspiration behind the Corra Linn Sweater.

As a former cotton mill in the late 18th and early 19th century, New Lanark benefitted from chattel slavery. Although it was esteemed for it’s Scottish worker’s high working and living standards, it’s vital to remember that this was only possible because of the chattel slavery taking place on cotton plantations.

CONSTRUCTION
Corra Linn is a top down sweater, worked in the round and with positive ease. There are two length options: standard and cropped, and there’s also an option to create a dipped back hem, which works for either length.

Techniques involved: travelling stitch cables (instructions included for working without a cable needle), horizontal braid (video tutorial provided), kyok increases (full explanation included) and simple short rows.

YARN
The pattern has been designed for a drapey double-knit weight yarn and the samples have been knitted in Moordale yarn from Rowan (230m / 251 yards per 100g skein; 70% wool, 30% alpaca)
Required skeins of Moordale:
4 (4, 5, 5, 6) 6, 7, 8, 8 for standard length
3 (4, 4, 5, 5) 6, 6, 7, 7 for cropped length

855 (930, 1050, 1190, 1305) 1445, 1530, 1780, 1865 yds

Cropped Length:

720 (800, 900, 1035, 1153) 1275, 1360, 1640, 1725 yds

Dipped Hem will use an approximate additional:
25 (25, 30, 35, 40) 45, 50, 55, 65 m
30 (30, 35, 40, 45) 50, 55, 60, 70 yds

If you’re planning to lengthen the body or sleeves, you will need more yarn.

GAUGE, NEEDLES & NOTIONS
21 (19.5) sts x 35 (33.5) rnds = 10 cm / 4” measured over patt on smaller (larger) needles, after blocking

3.5 mm (US 4) AND 4 mm (US 6) in following needles:
Double pointed needles (or preferred length circular needle for working smaller circumferences in the round) AND circular needle 80 cm (32”) long

Cable needle (optional), 2m (2.25yds) smooth waste yarn, 5 lockable stitch markers (one a different colour to mark BOR), tapestry needle

SIZE & FIT
1 (2, 3, 4, 5) 6, 7, 8, 9, designed to fit with approximately 18 cm – 30 cm / 6.75”– 11.75” of positive ease around chest.

See schematic and table (in pattern photos to left) for finished measurements to help you pick which size to knit. As well as using your chest/bust measurement as a guide to choosing sizes, pay attention to the upper arm measurements also.

Grey version shown on Maddie in size 3 with 18 cm / 6.75” of positive ease. Maddie is 5’9 in height.

Turquoise version in size 2 is also shown on Maddie with 4 cm / 1.78” of positive ease. It’s also shown on Knit Now Magazine’s model who is a size UK 8.
