Coquille
Coquille (ko-KEEL), Oregon is named for the Coquille Indian tribe and is an historic town. The pronunciation was changed by townsfolk to sound more like the French word for “shell”. There are 4 pattern rows and a multiple of 3 stitches + 4 optional selvage stitches. This pattern is related to the Trinity stitch. I recommend a size or 2 larger needles due to double decreases across an entire row, followed by double increases across an entire row. 2 of the 4 rows are just stockinette.
Skills needed: cast on, knit, purl, (k1, YO, k1) in one stitch, SK2P and bind off.
Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able yarn/thread will work. Make a swatch to check gauge and appearance.
40 yards of Lion Brand 24/7 yarn will make 10 inches of a 25-stitch strip at gauge.
