Convergency is built from striped wedges using German short rows, and finished off with a wide texture and lace knitted-on edging. This pattern can be resized by adding or subtracting wedges, or by editing the width of the border. The version shown uses 6 wedges and the widest border. The pattern contains full written instructions for striped upper and knitted-on border. In addition, the border is also fully charted.

Each shawl appearing in the shawl eBook is written to be resizable, and has a corresponding section in the workbook. The workbook itself presents techniques and construction used in each shawl (but does not include the full size shawl instructions), as well as a small practice project and a miniature shawl. Each eBook is available as a stand-alone or you can purchase the two together as a bundle. To be clear: the shawl eBook will have 7 resizable shawl patterns; the workbook will have the techniques used in the shawl eBook plus 14 small patterns (one accessory + a miniature doll-sized shawl that corresponds to each of the large shawls in the sister eBook). Either book can be used without the other.

About my project:
Back in 2010, I began an eBook series: 7 Small Shawls. At the time, I didn’t realize it was a series, but it turned out to be! In 2016, the 5th year of 7 Small Shawls wrapped up, and I wanted to try something different. At first, I thought I might do alternating years of oddments knitting (like my Great Oddments Knitdown book!) and small shawls. But since first designing my small shawls, I’ve begun teaching more, and I’ve learned a LOT from my classes. I hope those who have been in my classes have learned even half of what I did! When I first started teaching, I wasn’t sure I would have the patience, but I wanted to meet you all! By now, I am really loving it. The biggest thing I’ve learned? There are soooooo many kinds of knitters. And even if I tried, I could never make you all happy. So that threw me off for awhile as I tried to come up with where I wanted to go from here. But I kept coming back to one thing; the most asked question!

And it is…”how can I resize this shawl!?”

That question kept coming back to me. I do write quite a few resizable shawl patterns, but as I stood there in class going through each one of the patterns in the five years of eBooks, my path became clear. The idea for 7 reSizable Shawls was born! And that means you will be able to resize each pattern in the new 7 reSizable Shawl eBook to your heart’s content! Have twice the yardage? No problem! Want to use another weight of yarn? Sure!

But I also knew I wanted to give people the option for more instruction on the techniques used in my shawls, and maybe a small project to try first. Each shawl from the main eBook will have a corresponding small pattern in the workbook, along with a miniature shawl to knit up for practice!
