Just three colours yield seven distinct blended hues in this simple but effective gradient blanket. Working up fast with chunky needles, it makes a great baby gift; and in a cozy washable wool blend, it will last long enough to be passed down to the next baby.

The Continuation Blanket is a great canvas to display your LGBTQ+ pride. I’ve included images of various pride flag colours on the left along with the colourway names at the bottom of this description.

Holding three strands together, switch out one at a time to generate the smooth continuous colour shift from corner to corner. The blanket is worked in Garter Stitch on the bias. Three strands of yarn are held together throughout. This pattern has no charts.

This knitting pattern includes written instructions, detailed directions for colour changes, display and detailed photos, alternative colourway ideas inspired by Pride flags, colouring page to colour it yourself, schematic.

Substitution Notes
Choose an easy-care worsted weight yarn in acrylic or wool blends. In order to get the colour gradient effect, three strands must be held together, but if that’s not important, then two strands of bulky or a super bulky yarn will work. Swatch to determine finished measurements, especially when substituting.

Techniques
Increases (kfb) / decreases (k2tog), garter st, holding three strands together.
