Comfy Cardigan
This is the cardigan you are going to want to wear everyday and the pattern you will want to make more than once. Easy to wear, easy to make.
This top down, raglan sleeve sweater is knit in one piece with minimal finishing. It is a flattering design for all sizes, with strong vertical features; a wide front band, and a simple stitch pattern down the center back. The A-line shape is very flattering. Experience with garment knitting is preferred, but easy enough to be your first sweater with help.
Techniques used are: Kfb, K2tog, M1, picking up stitches, knitting in ribbing, and seaming (sleeves).
Included in the pattern are photos, a complete list of abbreviations, a stitch glossary, and schematic.
Substitute yarn: DK or worsted weight yarn can be used. I feel this design should have some “drape” to it, so I chose two yarns that have fibers with natural drape (plant fibers and/or alpaca) and I knit the yarns at a looser gauge than suggested. I recommend that you knit up a swatch and make sure you like the fabric. Some DK yarns knit at this gauge may look too loose.
