Comforting Hug
I think all of us could use a Comforting Hug about now. Here’s one you can make for yourself or others. More than a cowl but less than a cape, it’s a simple and quick knit that will keep your shoulders warm, stay in place and out of your way. I call it a topper because it can be worn over a shirt or a coat for extra warmth. It is knit from the top down, in the round, in a simple ribbing pattern that increases as you go. You’ll need 300 yards of a chunky/bulky weight yarn (or multi strand to create your own) with a size 10 (6 mm) circular needle. You can start with a 16” and switch to a longer needle as needed or work in magic loop with a longer circular. Finished size was 16” around neck x 12” long (unblocked). Mine grew a little when it was washed and blocked. The pattern is easy to make larger with more yarn.
