The Collins cowl is worked from the top down in the round. A collection of fun, simple to memorize stitches will keep you interested without needing too much attention. Two simple increase rounds create a subtle shape that lays nicely around your neck. It’s a wonderful piece for springtime layering. Pull it up over your neck when the air turns brisk, and slide it down to lay decoratively when the sun peeks through.

Make sure to choose two highly contrasting colors in order to see the subtle details. I used a variegated or speckled color as my c1 and a solid as c2, my c1 didn’t have any of the c2 colors, they are total contrasts. Two solids will also work nicely.

200 yards each of two, highly contrasting, fingering weight, yarns.

Skills needed:
Beginner friendly. Knit, purl in the round. Comfortable with kfb increases, slipping stitches and purling 3 together.

*** During the writing processes I thought I wanted to add a color block section of c1 but ultimately changed my mind. However, the first version of my published pattern did not reflect that change (my mistake). I’ve corrected the pattern and added the photo of the cowl my friend Emily knitted with the color block section (pictured in Navy Blazer and Cosmos (a speckled purple).
