Cold Spring Harbor Mitts
Cold Spring Harbor refers to the freshwater springs running through the area and into the harbor. The land was purchased by the English from the Matinecock Indians who referred to the town as “Wawapex”, meaning “place of good water”. Cold Spring Harbor is a quaint town, rich in fishing and whaling history. The cable and ribbing pattern on these mitts are reminiscent of interlocking pieces of whalebone that used to wash up onto the shore.
All Long Island Livestock patterns are free with the purchase of the yarn to make them. LI Livestock yarn is sold at yarn shows such as Vogue Knitting Live, and is occasionally available on our website lilivestockco.com.
