A real-life coffee addict, actress Lauren Graham reveals, “I drink a lot of coffee. I would get to this place on-set of Gilmore Girls in real life where if I had any more, I was going to keel over dead, so sometimes there was water in there.” Her costar, Alexis Bledel, however, is not a coffee drinker. In scenes where Rory needs to drink, Coke was put in her mug. Much of the beloved series revolves around not only America’s favorite hot, caffeinated drink, but also food. Once the deal between Lorelai and her parents is struck for the Chilton tuition loan, Friday night dinners become an important part of the show, as do regular visits to Luke’s Diner. Bledel said, “It really bothers me when actors don’t eat the food that’s in the scene. Like they’re supposed to be having a meal but don’t eat it, so we would go for it most of the time.” Graham remembers spitting the food out when the camera stopped rolling so she wouldn’t get sick if they had to do dozens and dozens of takes, whereas actor Jared Padalecki, who played Dean, would not only eat everything, but often take the leftovers home.

Whether you prefer a to-go cup or like to sit and sip, it doesn’t matter how many cups you’ve consumed … if you’re a coffee lover, these are the socks for you! Worked from the cuff down seamlessly in the round, the socks sport multicolored coffee mugs swirling around the leg in stranded colorwork. Both the heel and gusset are worked in the main color only, then the colorwork resumes across the instep, stopping again before the toe decreases begin. Once the remaining stitches are grafted together, mug handles and “Y” for Rory’s college are embroidered on post-knitting.
