Knitted in a luxurious blend of Baby Alpaca, Silk and Cashmere these are a lovely way to keeps hands toasty this winter. The gloves knitted for the sample (shown in The Knitter) are in the ‘Potpourri’ colourway and only used 50g of the yarn, so if you’re careful you could get two pairs from one skein, or at least a pair with fingers and a pair without. The gloves in the photographs here (on my dinky little chair) are the ‘Boudoir’ colourway, a lovely pinky-minky-silvery-beige.

note on finger sizing:

The number of stitches used for individual fingers have been worked out referring to the ‘Progressive Gloves’ article in the Winter 2003 Interweave Knits which seems to be a widely loved article on glove knitting, hence the larger index finger compared to the middle and ring fingers. It’s not just something I made up!

Thumb errata

This applies only to the pattern as published in The Knitter issue 37 - the .pdf from True Brit Knits is correct. The corrected section is shown in bold

Begin thumb gusset:

Next round: knit to last 3(3) sts on needle 2. Place marker, m1l, k4(5) (this includes 1(2) sts on needle 3), place marker, pattern to end of round.

Next round: knit to 1st marker, slip marker, m1l, knit to 2nd marker, slip marker, pattern to end of round. Repeat this round twice more, work 1 round straight. Repeat the last 5 rounds (4 inc rounds, 1 round straight) 4(4) times more. 24(25)sts.
Size m/l only:
Work 1 further inc round and 1 straight round for the m/l size - 26 sts between the markers.

All sizes hold thumb sts: knit across needles 1 & 2 to marker, slip next 24(26) sts to spare yarn to be held for thumb, use backward loop cast-on to cast on 4(5) sts, pattern across nd 3 as set.
