Knitting things for summer helps convince me that the snow will melt and eventually it will be time to complain about hot weather. Designed to be worn around the neck as a cowl, or over the shoulders as a capelet; this sweet little garment can be blocked to be either longer or wider as desired. The elongated stitches, made by simply dropping yarn overs, create an open, airy fabric that can be worn over a tank in the cool nights of warmer months.

Yarns: Wonderland Yarns “Mad Hatter Blossoms” sport weight, 100% superwash merino: 344 yds/4 oz cake, shown in limited edition colorway “Porphyra”

Needles & Notions: US size 7/4.5 mm needles for working in the round, AND US size 8/5mm needles for working in the round— 24”/60cm (or size required to get gauge), US size 10/6mm needle for bind off (optional), darning needle, stitch marker, blocking combs or pins, blocking board or something comparable

Gauge: 21 sts & 23 rounds = 4”/10 cm in stockinette stitch, after blocking

Measurements: This capelet is almost a circle when laid flat. By keeping the bind-off loose, you can block it to be either long or wide to fit a multitude of sizes. For the sample, I blocked focusing on length (see details at end of pattern) and it measures: 23”/58.5cm at the neck opening, 13”/33cm long, and 60”/152cm around at the bottom opening.
