This shawl was constructed in the traditional Orenburg way and knitted in one piece:

First, I knitted the teeth, then picked up stitches and knitted the body and the right row of teeth at the same time, and finished with the diagonal edging at the top of shawl. This creates a traditional triangular shawl.
I have incorporated the idea of using different colors for the basic elements in the chart as Russian lace-knitting legend Olga Alexandrovna Fedorova (1935–2008) taught.
The design for this shawl is called the Allover pattern.
I used four of the ten basic Orenburg elements: Peas used as a grid of diamonds, Honeycomb for a flower, Bided Way and Diagonal decorate the center diamonds, and the “snakes” from Diagonals create the teeth.
There are no purl stitches in Orenburg shawls, only knit, knit-two or three-together, and yarnover.
