The 1920’s were interesting times. There were new heights of glamour and hedonism following the Great War, for those who could afford it. There was hard work and hardship for those who couldn’t. Society still required the wearing of hats in public by all classes. Enterprising women with a few sewing skills would take advantage of patterns in magazines such as Woman’s Weekly (launched 1911) to create what they could not afford to buy.

You are looking for a brim width of approximately 16cm so adjust your stitches accordingly for your yarn and tension based on this sample.
