Clash of Cables Socks
These socks mixing roving diagonals and verticals stripes of different textures to create “clashes” that show up best on solid or slightly tonal yarns with strong stitch definition and are super interesting to knit. They are recommended to knit one at a time on 9” circulars to avoid having to cable, increase or decrease across joins and feature a uniquely textured flap & gusset heel. The complex look of these socks is sure to impress your friends and family - these make great gifts!
Because the pattern is heavily charted, revising stitch count is not recommended. Changing the gauge can allow for a slightly larger or smaller sock; go up a needle size for larger socks and down for smaller.
It is recommended to use one size larger needles than you normally do for socks as sometimes the cables will cause the sock to stretch a little less than normal.
A single skein of 350-400 yd sock yarn is sufficient and you will likely have leftovers.
When choosing a yarn, a tighter ply and a solid color are recommended to increase stitch definition.
Kudos to Erin Evans Malahowski for the excellent test knit!
