Clarion – an underwater fracture zone. Long, narrow and mountainous it creates huge ridges and troughs in the Pacific Ocean floor.

The beautiful scallop and ridges of this lace reminded me of that underwater phenomenon. Reverse stockinette ridges, special wrap stitches and the natural wave created in the bottom edge of each lace section mimics the troughs and ridges of the fracture zones. Knit in two colors of fingering weight yarn, it is a warm and elegant cowl.

Yarn: Fingering weight.
Color A: 82 yds (75m), Color B: 173 yds (158m).

Sample: Made in KnitPicks Palette; 100% Peruvian Highland Wool, 1.75oz (50g)/231 yds (211m) per ball; Color A: #24010 Marine Heather, Color B: #25095 Caribbean.

Gauge: One repeat (21 sts x 14 rnds) is 3.5” [9cm] wide x 1.75” [4.5cm] tall.
