This pattern is being launched at The Scottish Wool Producers Showcase in Perth, Scotland on 23rd March 2024 and will be available from 1pm.

This pattern is for a pair of fair isle, fingerless mitts to match the Clan Tammy Hat. They are worked in the round from the wrist up. After the corrugated rib section, stitches are increased to form the thumb gusset. Thumb
stitches are held on scrap yarn until the mitt is complete, the thumb stitches are returned to the needle and additional stitches are picked up before completing the thumb.

Tips for working the pattern
Charts can be found on pages 4-7. You will be working in the round, so you should always follow the charts from right to left.
If you are using a circular needle and magic loop, you can have the palm stitches on one needle and the stitches for the back of the hand on the other needle. This makes it easier to see where
the back of the hand ends and the palm begins. If you don’t like sewing in the ends, you could consider splicing ends every time you change colour. A video for splicing can be found within the links on the last page of this pattern Written instructions for the charts can be found on pages 8 to 10.

Shetland, 20% Cheviot. Approximately 350 m /
383 yds per 100g / 3.5 oz ball.

Needles
Gauge-size needles of your choice. For this
pattern I used a 100 cm / 40”, 2.75 mm / US 2
circular needle for the corrugated rib and a 100
cm / 40” 3.25 mm / US 3 circular needle for the
rest of the mitts. Use whichever type of needle(s)
you prefer, so long as you can obtain the correct
gauge. Please note you may prefer to work with
DPNs for the thumb.
