TECHNIQUE AND METHOD
The technique used for knitting this poncho is a form of entrelac knitting. This means squares are knitted in two directions to create an interwoven pattern. Stitches are picked up between the outermost and second outermost stitches along the sides of the squares.

Usually, entrelac squares are the same size, but here, the squares vary in size and color repetition in the same direction, making the fabric look like a woven band structure in different colors and widths.
The entire poncho is made up of 80 squares knitted together, forming a large square with an opening from one side to just past the middle.

SIZE
One size. For larger or smaller sizes, add or subtract the same number of stitches in both directions. Adjust the size based on how far down the arms you want the poncho to reach from the neckline.

FIT
The poncho consists of a large square with a center front opening. It is folded in half so that half hangs down the back (see image on page 9), and the two front pieces hang down on either side of the neck in the front. The neckline has no closure/buttons and forms a V in the back.

GAUGE (measured in Pure Wool)
24 sts and 38 rows stockinette on 3 mm = approx. 10 x 10 cm
Only stitch gauge is given due to the two-directional knitting and varied yarn types. The technique is highly elastic and can vary based on the knitter.

TOOLS
Several large and medium stitch holders (approx. 5 packs of large safety pins from Pickles)
