TECHNIQUE AND METHOD
The poncho is knitted using a variation of entrelac knitting. Squares are knitted in two directions, forming a woven lattice structure.

Typically, entrelac squares are the same size, but in this design, the squares vary in size and use repeating colors in the same direction. This creates a texture resembling woven ribbons in different colors and widths. The entire poncho is composed of 4 skewed modules knitted together. Module 1, 2, and 3 are identical (following diagram 1), while module 4 (following diagram 2) uses a different color and square placement.

SIZE
One size. To adjust size up or down, add or subtract the same number of stitches in both directions in the chart. This keeps the square proportions intact. Any stitch changes in one square must be reflected in the other three squares. Base the new size on how far down the arms you want the poncho to reach.

GAUGE (measured in Pure Wool)
24 sts and 38 rows stockinette on 3 mm = approx. 10 x 10 cm
Only stitch gauge is given due to the two-directional knitting and varied yarn types. The technique is highly elastic and can vary based on the knitter.

TOOLS
Several large and medium stitch holders (approx. 5 packs of large safety pins from Pickles)

COLOR AND YARN COMBINATION NOTES
High-contrast colors may produce rough transitions between joined squares. Similar-value colors blend more smoothly. This pattern has been carefully color-tested to achieve the best transitions. Other combinations may give uneven joins, and testing other colors and qualities in swatches is recommended. Black and white, for example, are tricky.
In terms of yarn type:
Soft Fuzz offers good coverage and blends well, while Mjuk Merino is bouncy and more challenging, so only two colors of this quality are used. Pure Wool and Sommerull both work well in transitions.
