One of my favorite children’s book series is “The Enchanted Forest” by Patricia Wrede. The main character is Princess Cimorene, who is

A princess who refuses to be proper. She is everything a princess is not supposed to be: headstrong, tomboyish, smart…and bored.

This sock is feminine, yet not so much that Cimorene would refuse to wear it. And it is not boring to knit. (At least I hope so!)
