SKILL LEVEL: Beginner-Intermediate
SUPPLIES
Two colors of Super Bulky yarn (6 ply, one color for the “cake” and one for the “frosting”). I used Lion Brand Hometown USA in Los Angeles Tan (“cake”, color A) and Lion Brand Hometown
USA in Honolulu Pink (“frosting”, color B)
Worsted weight yarn in red and green for the cherry and cherry stem, respectively. Also, various colors of “scrap” yarn to use for the sprinkles.
P (10mm) hook for the hat
G (4.25mm) for the cherry
Yarn needle to weave in ends and stitch on “sprinkles”.
Fiberfill or the stuffing of your choice for the cherry.
GAUGE
6 blo scs x 7 rows= 3”x3” swatch with P hook. Add or subtract sts to attain correct gauge and size measurements.
CROCHET PATTERN IN FIVE SIZES : measurements/stitch counts in ( ) are for Newborn-3m size
and where applicable in for larger sizes.
Newborn-3m: 5” high/10”-11” circumference, frosting piece diameter= 6”-6 ½” laying flat
3m-9m: 6” high/13”-14” circumference, frosting piece diameter= 8”-8 ½”
9m-2t: 7” high/15”-16” circumference, frosting piece diameter= 9”-9 ½”
2y-5y: 8” high/16”-17” circumference, frosting piece diameter= 10”-10 ½”
PreTeen/Teen/Adult: 9” high/18”-19” circumference, frosting piece diameter= 11”-11 ½”
HOW TO READ THE INSTRUCTIONS
blo sc= back loop only (for the ‘cake’ part of this pattern)
blo hdc= back loop only (for the ‘frosting’ in this pattern, you’re using the loop BEHIND the traditional ‘back loop’)
ch= chain
hdc= half double crochet
dc= double crochet
sl st= slip stitch
sc= single crochet
dec= decrease
