Chromalogic
This ultra-colorful headband is made one strand at a time. The body is worked with a main color (which in this case is really more of a background color), then contrasting colors are applied afterwards. I used applied single crochet, but that is just one of many possible approaches. To see how I work applied crochet, please visit this demo video I made. If crochet isn’t your thing, the pattern links to my more detailed demo featuring a variety of other techniques and tools (knitting needles, Cordsmith) instead of a crochet hook.
Chromalogic was inspired by and made with the 24-color mini set Bohemian Rhapsody from Dragonfly Fibers & Canon Hand Dyes. Although you could make it with stash leftovers, I highly recommend these 24-color mini sets. They are beautifully and skillfully curated, and I love working with a big set of colors on the same yarn base. One set is enough for more than 4 headbands!
The pattern is available here as a standalone purchase, or free with purchase of one Dragonfly mini set at the 2024 Rhinebeck Sheep and Wool Festival. Come find us in Bldg 39, booths 19-20. Hope to see you there!
To redeem your free pattern: If you have purchased a mini set at Rhinebeck, there should be a sticker on the box with a QR code to this redeem page, along with your download code. If you have any difficulty, please get in touch with me and we’ll get it sorted out. :)
