Christmas Rose is a 11” round doily in 13 rounds using size 20 thread and a US 9 steel hook (recommendation on steel hook size on inside of Volume 17’s back cover). One skein makes 3 to 4 doilies.

from the author: you need one ounce of beads for each doily - white thread and rub beads were used.
-String beads on thread - if you do not wish to use beads, you may use any color thread, and finish petal edge without turning work, by slst in each st around petal with ch 1 between slsts
