Children's Cosy Gloves
This delightful little set of socks and gloves has instructions for knitting it in three sizes – for a child of 6-8, 8-10, and 10-12 years. Both gloves and socks are knitted on two needles. A gaily coloured contrasting stripe round wrists and ankles will appeal to every small girl.
MATERIALS: To make the gloves in size 6-8 years allow 2 ozs. of Lister’s Lavenda Wool, 4-ply, in main colour and 1 oz. in contrasting and 1 pair of No. 13 knitting needles.
For gloves in sizes 8-12 years allow the same amounts of wool but 1 pair of No. 12 knitting needles.
To make the socks in any of the sizes allow 2 ozs. of Lister’s Lavenda Wool, 4-ply, in main colour and 1 oz. in contrasting, and 1 pair of No. 13 knitting needles.
To make the set of gloves and socks together in size 6-8 years allow 3 ozs. of the main wool and 1 oz. of contrasting, and 1 pair of No. 13 knitting needles.
To make the set in size 8-10 years allow 3 ozs. of the main wool and 1 oz. of contrasting, and 1 pair of No. 12 and No. 13 knitting needles.
TENSION: Over the stocking stitch on No. 13 needles, 10 sts. to 1 inch in width. On No. 12 needles, 19 sts. to 2 inches in width.
MEASUREMENTS: THE SOCK – This is given in three sizes for 6-8, 8-10 and 10-12 years with 7½, 8 and 8½ inch foot lengths respectively.
THE GLOVE – Three sizes: 6-8, 8-10 and 10-12 years with overall length of 7½, 8 and 8½ inches respectively.
