✨ The Story Behind Your Next Knit

Inspired by the majestic beauty of Cheyenne Cañon in Colorado, this wrap captures the essence of soaring rock formations, and the vibrant blue of the Colorado sky (I know it’s a bit of a stretch, but it sounds pretty, right? 😉). This shawl features simple mosaic colorwork, eyelets, and rows upon rows of wrapped stitches which means this shawl knits up quick and effortlessly! Get ready for a surprisingly speedy, stunning project.

🧶 Quick Highlights:

  • Difficulty: Intermediate (perfect for exploring new techniques without the headache!).
  • Techniques: Mosaic colorwork (slipped stitches), eyelets, wrapped stitches, basic increases/decreases, knit, purl.
  • Construction: Worked flat, creating a versatile rectangular wrap.
  • Special Features: Three-color design, quick-to-knit, unique texture from wrapped stitches, eyelets for added interest, charted and written instructions for colorwork sections.
  • Yarn Weight: Sport weight.

📐 Approximate Measurements:

  • Length: 51” (130 cm)
  • Depth: 18” (46 cm)
  • Note: If you use Granola, the suggested yarn, it has the property of stretching a lot when wet and shrinking again as it dries, especially if you use a machine to dry the yarn (as suggested by the manufacturer). If you machine wash/dry the project, rather than wet block your project, the measurements will likely vary from the approximated measurements. (Always read your yarn label, friends!)

📏 Gauge:

  • 21 sts / 44 rows = 4” / 10 cm in Mosaic Colorwork using larger needles (US 7 (4.5 mm)) after wet blocking
  • Exact gauge is not critical. However, deviation from the gauge will affect the size of the shawl and yarn requirements. Swatch it up!

🧶 Suggested Yarn:

  • Granola by Louise Robert Design; 70% Merino wool, 30% hemp, 100 g (300 m / 328 yds); Sport Weight in the following colors:
    • MC: Chopin; 2 skeins (approx. 170 g needed (510 m / 560 yds))
    • CC1: Loch; 1 skein (approx. 60 g needed (180 m / 200 yds))
    • CC2: Canevas; 1 skein (approximately 60 g needed (180 m / 200 yds))
  • Or approximately 300 g of a similar sport weight yarn - this is a perfect project for scraps or mini skeins! Choose solid or mostly solid colored yarn that has good stitch definition and select colors that have enough contrast to allow the colorwork to stand out.

🥢 Needles:

  • US 5 (3.75 mm), US 6 (4.0 mm) and US 7 (4.5 mm) circular needle, or size to obtain gauge at least 24” (60 cm) long.

✂️ Notions:

  • Tapestry needle (for weaving in those beautiful ends!)
  • Stitch markers (10, to keep you on track!)
