Cherry blossom branch
A miniature realistic version of a cherry blossom flower, made in Tunisian crochet. The total stem measures c.25cm (10in) in length for the large size and 13cm (5in) for the small. The petals are life-sized. Using a larger hook will produce a larger flower (see photos).
The pattern involves Tunisian Simple Stitch, short rows, and some standard crochet. A familiarity with Tunisian crochet would be useful but there are full step-by-step photo tutorials of each element of the work aimed at the beginner. The flower isn’t complicated to make, but micro-crochet can be fiddly simply because of the small stitches.
The tutorials are included with this pattern but are separate pdfs (due to size!) There are two in total: the flowers and the buds. The construction of the branch is included by the main pattern below.
The sample piece was made using a 0.4mm hook and the thread used is DMC machine embroidery thread no.50.
