I designed this pattern for my yarn shop, Cheers To Ewe!, as part of the 2018 Charlotte Area Yarn Crawl. Each shop is offering one knit square and one crocheted square just for this year’s crawl!

This pattern is for the intermediate knitter or the VERY adventurous advanced beginner. It’s perfect for practicing a variety of techniques including Magic Ring Cast On, reversed Bar Increases (reversed KFB), and incorporating increases into your bind-off! (Yes, it’s totally possible!)

I used Cascade 220, worsted weight yarn for this square, but you can certainly use any worsted weight yarn you choose! The idea behind this square – and the others offered by shops participating in the Charlotte Area Yarn Crawl – is that you can use one, or all of the squares to create an afghan, or other fun things!

PATTERN OVERVIEW:
Level - INTERMEDIATE: This pattern uses techniques including knitting in the round, reversed Bar Increases, and increasing in the bind-off. Written instructions are provided along with the chart for the pattern. The square is worked from the center out, finishing at the outer edge.

MATERIALS
Yarn: 1 skein of CASCADE 220 – We used color 7804 Shrimp.
Needles: US 7/4.50 mm needles in preferred style for small circumference knitting in the round, and circular needles 16” and 24” long.
Tapestry Needle
Stitch markers

SIZE
Square = 10”

GAUGE
17 sts and 30 rows = 4” in pattern
Note: Because this square is knit in the round, working from the center out, the gauge has been measured using a knit sample of the pattern and is not to standard gauge for stockinette in worsted weight yarn.

ABBREVIATIONS & TERMS
k – Knit
p – Purl
kfb - Knit into the front and back of the stitch
rev kfb - Reorient the stitch on the left needle, knit the stitch, and move the newly knitted stitch off the left needle onto the right needle. Then, using tip of left needle, lift the loop at the base of the just-knitted stitch onto the left needle, and knit through the back of the loop.
