How This Pillow Is Made
The rose squares used in this pillow are a fresh take on the traditional Irish rose crochet motif. By working the petals in the front loops only and the following rounds in the back loops, the design achieves both a layered, dimensional look and a sturdy, cozy fabric. Choose from two techniques (invisible mattress stitch or back loop slip stitch) to join motifs in a checkerboard design. Two panels, worked in sturdy single crochet stitches, overlap at the back and fasten with buttons, making this pillow cover easy to remove for cleaning.

Suggested Yarn Substitutes
Sample was made with medium-weight acrylic, but feel free to substitute the medium-weight yarn of your choice. Wool and cotton would also be good options. Lighter or heavier weight yarns may also be used. A different weight yarn may require a different size hook, as well as more or less yarn than noted. Working with a thinner or thicker yarn may result in different gauge measurements, which will affect the Finished Measurements.
