Checkerboard Felted Tote
We love the way Kauni yarns make colourwork a breeze and it felts like a charm! Perfect for creating a stunning felted tote for all your knitting projects.
This bag begins at the bottom, knit flat and then stitches are picked up to form the sides. A colourful, colourwork, checkerboard pattern is used to create the tote’s design in Kauni’s 8/2 effektgarn. You can use the striped yarn or choose from their solid colours. It’s possible to use one ball of striped Kauni yarn, if you are willing to split it into smaller balls to get the colours to contrast and if you are willing (possibly) to end your bag a little earlier (it may not be as tall). Easier, is to use two balls!
Gauge is not terribly important… you are going to felt it when you’re done! We recommend knitting a swatch and felting it to get an idea of the amount of shrinkage your washing machine will give you. Later, your swatch can become an interior/exterior pocket if you like!
You’ll need a 5.0mm circular needle, 60cm/24in in length and 4 stitch markers (one of which is different from the rest).
