Chamisa
The Chamisa trail is the perfect trail for a weekday hike. It is close to town, but you still get to be among the big trees which always makes me feel like I am far from it all. Chamisa is a shrubby plant that is quite common in the southwest and along the Chamisa trail. The grey-green body of the Chamisa plant are so indicative of plants out here in the southwest and provide a great contrast to the high desert landscape. The traveling cables on this hat remind me of the Chamisa plant. They look complicated, but are very approachable and the result is really quite striking.
