Diseñado en marzo de 2020, este chal perfecto para una noche de verano ha estado esperando pacientemente encontrar un poco de normalidad en esta época tan insólita que nos ha tocado vivir. Lo publico justo dos años después como mi pequeño homenaje, en general, a la vida que ha seguido su ritmo a través de una pandemia y, en particular, a una nueva vida, la de mi hija Carmen, que llegó para demostrárnoslo.

Notas sobre la construcción
Este es un chal con calado all over y forma de media luna (o crescent). Lo componen dos secciones: en la primera se teje un calado geométrico, más denso, con un diseño que recuerda a unos rombos, en la que se utiliza el color principal; en la segunda, con el color de contraste, se teje la puntilla con un dibujo que surge a continuación del anterior y es más ligero. Para terminar, unas vueltas de punto jersey forman la orilla y enmarcan el conjunto.

Tamaño
El chal mide 186 cm de ancho y 65 cm de alto, con 220 cm de punta a punta, después de un bloqueo agresivo.

Lana: aprox. 800 m de hilo fingering.
Feliz y Punto Luxury Sock (100g / 400m; 70% merino, 20% seda, 10% cachemira)
1 ovillo color Terracota (color principal CP)
1 ovillo color Tee (color de contraste CC)
Agujas: agujas circulares de 3,5 mm y de 3,25 mm / 80 cm US size 6 / 32”, o las necesarias para obtener la muestra de tensión indicada.

Tensión
22 p y 35 vtas = 10 x 10 cm 4 x 4” tejidos en punto calado geométrico después de bloquear.
Nota: Aunque en este chal no es indispensable obtener la tensión indicada, tejerlo con una tensión diferente puede variar su tamaño final y el consumo total de hilo.

Designed in March 2020, this perfect shawl for a summer night has been patiently waiting to find a little normalcy in these unusual times we live in. I publish it just two years later as my little tribute, in general, to the life that has kept pace through a pandemic and, in particular, to a new life, that of my daughter Carmen, who came to prove it to us.

Notes on construction
This is a shawl with all-over lace and a half moon (or crescent) shape, which begins with a garter tab cast-on, and continues increasing 2 stitches on each side in right side rows and 1 stitch on each side in wrong side rows.
The shawl is made up of two sections: in the first, a denser geometric lace is knitted, with a design reminiscent of rhombuses, in which the main color is used; in the second, with the contrasting color, the lace is knitted with a pattern that follows the previous one and is lighter. To finish, a few rows of stockinette stitch form the edge and frame the whole.

Finished measurements
The shawl measures 186cm / 73” wide and 65cm / 25.5” high, with 220cm / 86.5” wingspan, after an aggressive blocking.

Gauge
22 sts y 35 rows = 10 x 10 cm 4 x 4” in geometric lace worked flat with larger needles, after blocking.
Note: Although it is not essential to obtain the indicated tension for this shawl, knitting it with a different tension may vary its final size and total yarn requirements.
