Celtic Charmers
Simply Charming
Designed in collaboration with The Fibre Co., to showcase their beautifully rustic wool, LORE, Celtic Charmers were inspired by my British heritage…and my deep love for all things wooly. Named to honour my grandfather, a WWII soldier who “charmed” my grandmother back to Canada, these Celtic Charmers remind us that, no matter the generation, there’s just no denying the special kind of warmth found in a pair of hand-knit woollen mittens!
Finished Measurements
On the hand: 6.75” (17 cm) cuff to fingers. 7.75” (20 cm) circumference, at widest part of hand (above thumb).
Flat: 7.5” (19 cm) length x 3” (7.75 cm) width.
Yarn
The Fibre Co. Lore (100% Romney Wool; 273 yards / 250 meters / 100 grams): 1 skein in colour “Happiness”.
Yarn Note: One skein of Lore is enough to make two pairs of Celtic Charmers, provided you are working at the gauge stated in the pattern.
Needles
• One 9” (23cm) circular needle size US 5 (3.75 mm).
• Four double-pointed needles size US 5 (3.75mm).
Needles Note: This pattern was worked using a 9” (23 cm) circular needle. If you cannot obtain, or dislike using, a small-circumference needle, double-pointed needles may be used throughout.
Gauge
11 stitches & 15.5 rounds = 2” (5 cm) in Stockinette Stitch.
Skill Level
Intermediate
This pattern has been tech edited and test-knitted.
It includes written directions only, no chart.
Embellishment
The metal medallions used on the sample were added for presentation purposes only; specifications are not included in the pattern. They were originally purchased at Michaels Canada. Inventory differs outside Canada and is constantly changing, so I cannot guarantee you will find the same ones. If you’re interested, the manufacturer is Blue Moon Beads.
THANK YOU! To the talented team of yarn bosses at The Fibre Co., thanks for believing in me and my designs AND for making yarns that never fail to inspire!
