Whenever we stay near Joshua Tree National Park, we always get coffee and breakfast at our favorite cafe, Giant Rock Meeting Room in Landers, CA. This quaint little spot in the middle of nowhere has comfy seating, beautiful light, and delicious morning treats. The cafe is located off of Cedarbird Road, and the name always stuck with me. This simple lace and garter cowl, made in collaboration with Heather of Earl Grey Fiber Company, reminds me of the soft pink light of the desert, and my favorite place to start my day.
The yarn used for the sample is a single-ply 100% Superwash merino yarn. To achieve optimum drape and warmth, I suggest you use yarn with similar fiber content. Any fingering weight yarn will do, but single-ply yarn gives this cowl some additional fluff and adds a little elegance to the cowl. To maximize the impact of your lace, be sure to chose a solid, tonal, or very lightly speckled colorway.
