Catalonia Cardigan
Skill Level: Intermediate
Inspired by Frank Gehry’s scale-like fish sculpture in Barcelona, the Catalonia Cardigan uses knitting in the row below to create a fabric that mimics the steel structure. The yarn crosses gently between rows to re-create the look of the intersecting lines of Gehry’s art, in a fabric that stretches and moves with you.
Designed for chainette yarn, the hollow tube created by the chainette construction keeps the garment light and airy despite the bulky yarn and longer length. A sailor collar is worked as an extension of the body. The cardigan is secured with fun button loops to allow peek through of the garment underneath.
