Cat Shawl
Be seen this Halloween in a super triangular shaped shawl with four shadowy cats lurking amongst the stripes.
The shawl is knit fairly loosely using an aran weight, cotton/silk mix yarn.
The shawl measures 50in(140cm) across the top and 26in(66cm) down the centre after pressing. Please note: I used all of the two 100g balls in MC, so more will be required if you wish to make the shawl larger or if the tension is not matched.
The shawl is knit mainly in stocking stitch from the top down, with the increases made at the beginning, centre and end of the knit rows. The garment features a simple decorative cast off edging along the two sides and garter stitch across the top. The cats are added using a thicker, chunky/bulky weight yarn and duplicate stitch (Swiss darning) upon completion of the shawl; this means you can add as many cats as you like, placing them where you wish, or leave the shawl cat free!
The shawl is knit flat on two needles; a circular needle is used towards the end to accommodate the growing number of stitches!
