Cat cave
Ever since my daughter got a cat I wanted to make him (Harry) a crocheted bed. I designed this cosy basket with cat and mouse ears. If you don’t have a cat you can use this fun basket for storage.
If you want to see a video of Harry with the basket you can look at my etsy listing.
I have made this pattern with macramé cord 5 mm (= yarn weight Super Bulky; Bobbiny macramé cord 5mm)
The pattern is written in English (UK AND US -terms) and in Dutch.
The basket is approx. 31 cm / 12 inch long and has a diameter of 29 cm / 11.4 inch
Needed for 1 basket:
- 3 skeins of Bobbiny macramé cord 5 mm in the color Silver = approx. 300 meters /328 yards.
- Hook 7 mm (Do you find it difficult to crochet this thick cord with this hook, try using a larger size hook)
- A metal/wooden/plastic ring of 20 cm / 8 inch to make the entrance more sturdy and round
- Sturdy needle with big eye to sew the ears to the basket
Of course you can use other options: (sizes of the basket and amount of yarn can differ by using a different yarn!)
- any macramé cord 5 mm
- T-Shirt Yarn Cotton
- Bernat Maker Big Yarn
- Bernat Make Home Dec
- Natural Cotton Rope
Level: intermediate (the stitches are easy, but working with such a thick cord is of course more difficult)
I have added some tips and tricks about crocheting around a ring and photos to help you crochet this cat bed.
