Casement Socks
The design of these lacy socks is inspired by a Frank Lloyd Wright Tree of Life window on view at the de Young Museum in San Francisco. Diagonal eyelets represent the panes of glass, while the chevron shapes formed by the corresponding decreases mimic the lines of leading between them; an eye-of-partridge heel adds to the stained-glass effect.
The overall look is intricate, but in fact the four-round lace pattern is easy enough for vacation knitting. The pattern instructions are both charted and written. Three sizes are provided, to allow the socks to fit most adult feet.
