Carouselambra
Happy New Year to each and every one of you! I wish you a happy, healthy and knit-tastic 2017! And what better way to begin the new year than with a sophisticated, beautiful and chic shawlette like Carouselambra that will give you an amazing look! It is so fun to knit – no seaming involved! – that it can also help to beat the winter blues!
As an added bonus Carouselambra is completely reversible, so you can have two awesome styles for the price of one! Treat yourself or a loved one to this stunning shawlette that will keep everyone warm and cosy in a stylish way!
Carouselambra is a modular knit and you will join the modules as you go. All instructions are provided in written and charted form. You will find graphics that explain the architecture and how to join the modules, plus ample photo tutorials on the joining techniques. This makes Carouselambra a feasible project for most knitters.
Since all modules are slightly different in size it was necessary to provide the instructions for all modules in the pattern from the beginning to the end. They are quite easy to follow as the main action happens at the end of the rows, so you will only need a swift glance at the respective row. However you will find quite a lot of pages in the PDF file. As such I have split the written and charted instructions and provided two separate PDF files.
Carouselambra is originally designed for Wollmeise Pure. You can choose any other yarn weight or brand, but mind that your required yardage and the size might differ. You will need two contrasting yarns – about 810yards / 740m each. Two solids, two semi solids, one solid combined with a color gradient or even two color gradients will all look fine. Whether you choose a stark or a mild contrast, Carouselambra will work as long as you can distinguish the two yarns. I knitted one version with two colors of Wollmeise Pure and another version with Zauberball and XL Klekse by Schoppel. Of course many other yarn brands spring to mind like Crystal Palace Mini Mochi or Sausalito paired with Mini Solid; Noro Hansono or Silk Garden Sock Solo paired with Silk Garden Sock Solo , Silk Garden Fine or Flower Bed; Schoppel Wool Finest with Zauberball 100 or Zauberball Crazy; Wollmeise Pure semi solid with multi colored; Lana Grossa Meilenweit, Schoppel Zauberball 6, Schoppel Edition 3, Nordlys by Viking of Norway, Lang Mille Colori, Poeoms Sock, Amitola by Louisa Harding, and many many more. Of course you can always destash and combine various colored leftovers with one solid yarn.
Happy Knitting,
Ursa Major
